George Cullom Cooper, Jr, age 93, of Glasgow, died Thursday, August 26, 2021 at his home. He was born in Livingston, TN on October 30, 1927, to the late George Cullom Cooper Sr and the late Sarah (Cooper) Cooper. He was a lineman for the Electric Plant Board, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and started First Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Who was George Cooper? George Cooper was a faithful, dedicated, consistent, committed man of God, who possessed the quietness of strong men, yet revealed no cowardice when it came to standing in the gap and making up the hedge - where others feared to go. He was a brother, husband, father, great-grandfather, deacon, teacher, worship leader, conference leader, dependable employee and faithful friend, who loved and prayed for his enemies and chose to suffer the affliction of God's people rather than enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. He was a church planter, a constant laborer for that which was right, a vigilant opponent to that which was wrong, an ever-willing hand for the good cause, whose resources were never wasted on the cheap, short-lived trinkets of this broken and dying world. He was among the community's most valuable assets, who paid his debts, who always contributed on the side of the solution and avoided contributing to the community problems. Men like this are not born, but grown through the trials and troubles of life where the right way was chosen, time after time, and ambition and personal desire sacrificed for the greater good. Men like this are not replaced, simply honored, hopefully remembered, and more importantly - used as a guide to steer younger men currently in their journey of life. George Cooper was not one of a kind. He simply gave his all to be like the one who is one of a kind, Jesus the Christ. He is survived by his wife, Vonda Else (Hammock) Cooper; two daughters, Patricia Edwards (Mitch) of Glasgow and Paula Foster of Franklin, TN; one son, Stephen Cooper (Teri) of Fort Wayne, IN; nine grandchildren, Brent Edwards (Trina), Elizabeth Edwards Crace, Brock Edwards (Melissa Jolly), Erin McDuffie (Steve), Lindsey Lasuer (Aaron), Paige Canete (Christian), Scott Cooper, Stephanie Cooper, and Josh Crace; 12 great grandchildren, Noah Edwards, Elijah Edwards, Adeline Crace, Ansleigh Crace, Brylee Edwards, Maggie Jolly, Dehlia Benningfield, Foster Lasuer, Myles Lasuer, Lily Lasuer, Hendrix Canete, Paisley Canete, and Sebastian Canete; one brother in law, Clyde Hammock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings, Mae Green, Arlon Cooper, Claudie Cooper, J.B. Cooper, Geneva Bilbrey, Charles Cooper, and Homer Cooper; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, September 4th at Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 10:30 AM until 12:00 PM, Saturday, at the graveside. Military honors will be provided by DAV chapter 20. A.F. Crow & Son has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the funeral home to help with expenses. A.F. Crow & Son is both honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Cooper
