James L. 'Jimmy' Smith 67 of Glasgow, died Thursday October 26, 2006 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was born in Barren County the son of the late Katie Maude Sater Smith and Herman Taylor Smith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army and was a member of the D.A.V. Chapter 20 Color Guard and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a former employee of the Glasgow Fire Dept. and the Barren-Metcalfe Ambulance Service. Mr. Smith was a member of the Union #2 Missionary Baptist Church He is survived by his wife Ruth; 4 sons Kevin Lee Smith (Kristie) of Glasgow, James Christopher Smith at home, Mike Thomerson of Glasgow, Tommy Thomerson (Kimberly) of Bowling Green; 1 brother William Charles Smith (Carrie) of Smiths Grove; 3 sisters Barbara Wheeler of Glasgow, Maryline Strahley (Dr. David) of Glasgow, and Martha Blakley (Arnold) of Glasgow; 7 grandchildren Adam Chapman, Michael Thomerson, Holly Thomerson, Daniel Lopez, Kelcie Lopez, Mya Lopez and Laynie Smith. Several brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Sunday, October 29, 2006 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Lick Branch Cemetery with military honors provided by D.A.V. Chapter 20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be after 6pm on Friday.
