Albert Leon 'Al' Canfield 88 of Glasgow died Saturday July 14, 2007 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was born in Elmhurst, IL the son of the late Leo Dane and Jean Pfeiffer Canfield. Mr. Canfield was an employee of R. R. Donnelley & Sons for 45 years. He retired from Donnelley's after working with the company in Chicago and Old Saybrook, CT where he helped to start up and see the continuation of the Old Saybrook plant. He was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran of WWII and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Glasgow. Al enjoyed watercolor painting and the Barber Shop Chorus and was a member of the Marine Corp. League. Survivors include his wife Carol Huizenga Canfield; a son Rich Canfield and daughter-in-law Elaina Marie Sanger of Northport, Maine; 4 step sons Lesie Huizenga of Hammond, IN, David Huizenga (Gloria) of Flagstaff, AZ, Randy Huizenga (Nikki) of Salt Lake City, UT and Cary Huizenga (Linda) of Glasgow and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Clare Marie Simpson Canfield and two brothers Richard and Justin Canfield. Mr. Canfield has chosen cremation. A Memorial service will be held 1:00pm Wednesday July 18, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday from 5pm until 8pm at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home and on Wednesday at the Church from 12:00 until time for services. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 500 S. Green St., Glasgow, KY 42141.
