Alfred 'Maxey' Settle 86 of Glasgow and a former Louisville resident went to his heavenly rest on Thursday, January 21, 2016. The Barren County native was the son of the late George and Norma Kinslow Settle. Maxey is preceded in death by his two brothers Reid and Ross Settle, both veterans of WWII and a very special Aunt Lila Kinslow-Harrison. Maxey was a 1948 graduate of Glasgow High School and served our country in the U. S. Army. He served our Lord for several years as the adult Sunday school teacher at Peniel Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville where he was ordained as a deacon. After moving back to Glasgow in 2001, he and his wife joined Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Glasgow. He also served there as a deacon until moving to Morgantown in 2013 where they then attended New Beginnings Ministry. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wanda Elmore Settle; two children, daughter Kim Settle Hayes (Tim) of Louisville and son, Greg Settle (Cindy) of Canmer; three grandchildren Kelly Henderson (Joseph) of Morgantown, Chris Hayes of Louisville and Justin Settle (Meryl) of Canmer; three great-grandchildren Nathaniel, Grayson and Lila Henderson; two nephews Les Settle (Jan) of Bowling Green and Larry Settle (Virginia) of Glasgow; two nieces Nikki Clements (David) of Wisconsin and Patricia Billingsley of Glasgow. Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday, January 26th at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4pm Monday.
