Alica (Lisa) Ann Flener Short, 51, formerly of Cave City, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2006 at her home in Louisville after a lengthy battle with leukemia. Lisa was a 1972 graduate of Caverna High School and a 1977 graduate of the UK College of Pharmacy. She received a Pharm D (Doctor of Pharmacy) from the University of Kentucky in 1989. She was a pharmacist at Nunn Drugs in Edmonton from 1976-1979; staff pharmacist at St. Francis Hospital (Greenville, SC) from 1979-80, and a clinical pharmacist and director of clinical services at the University of Louisville Hospital from 1980 to 2006. Most recently, her work included the design and development of the CPOE (Computer Physician Order Entry) Project at the University of Louisville Hospital. For her efforts, she was named the 2005 Outstanding Hospital Pharmacist of the Year in Kentucky. Lisa was a board member of the Louisville Metro Health Department and a member of other professional organizations, including the Kentucky Pharmacist Association and the Kentucky Society of Hospital Pharmacists. She was an assistant clinical professor for the U of L Department of Surgery and an instructor for the UK College of Pharmacy. She authored several publications for the Pharmacy Department and the Surgery Department of U of L. Lisa was a member of the St. Matthews Baptist Church, active in her Esther Sunday School Class, and a former member of the Cave City Church of Christ.
