Arietta Houchin

Arietta Hamilton Houchin, age 90, of Leitchfield, Ky. entered into her eternal rest on August 26, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on March 5, 1924 in Big Reedy, Ky. to A.G. (Major) and Pansy Bolton Hamilton. Arietta was a housewife and homemaker who loved to sew, raise flowers, travel and do the Lords work through her church. She was saved and joined The Mount Pleasant Cumberland Presbyterian Church in 1935 at the age of 11. She became a member of The Mt. Vernon C.P. Church in May 1956. She was ordained an elder Sept 21, 1980 and remained an elder until her death. Her greatest joy was spending her time with her family and friends. She is survived by her son Michael Sim (Elaine) Houchin and her daughter Gail Houchin (Morris) Basham, both of Leitchfield, 6 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, one step grandson and 4 step grandchildren and two sisters, Norma Webb of Leitchfield and Ann H. Mills of Louisville. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sim Houchin and her brother A.G. (Graff) Hamilton, III of Bowling Green. Celebration of Life Service will be at 7:00pm Friday August 29, 2014 at Watson and Hunt Funeral Home in Leitchfield, Ky. Bro. Bill Macy officiating. Burial will be in The Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Big Reedy, Ky. Friends may call at Watson and Hunt Funeral Home from 10:00am-7:00pm on Friday.
