Audrey Angle Tierney, born December 26, 1936, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2023 at her residence in Bowling Green, KY, after her battle with dementia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Van G. Angle and Molly Viola Hood Angle, her sisters Alba Jean Angle Weaver, Martha Louise Angle, and her beloved husband of 23 years, John Francis (Jack) Tierney. Audrey was born in Youngstown, OH, but moved at a young age to western Pennsylvania and graduated from Penn Hills High School in 1955. In 1959 she moved to New York City and began her long career as a flight attendant for American Airlines. She and Jack married in September of 1969. Jack and Audrey maintained homes in both New York and Connecticut. They built their final home together in Roxbury, CT, in the early '80s, just prior to Jack's retirement from the JC Penney Company. Jack passed away after a battle with cancer in March of 1992. Audrey continued to work for American Airlines until her retirement in 1996, completing a career of 37 years as an active flight attendant. She built a home in The Villages, Florida, and moved there permanently in 2009. Audrey's passions included traveling, gourmet cooking, music, and entertainment. She was a life-long lover and supporter of the arts. She held season tickets to both symphony and Broadway productions. Audrey was a collector of fine art and was a gifted painter in her own right. She was fortunate to be able to travel the world both throughout her career and in retirement. Audrey held ownership of an apartment in Paris, and another in Santa Fe, New Mexico, She had a special love for France, its people and its culture, She learned to speak French and also became a connoisseur of French wine and cuisine. No matter where she lived, Audrey loved to entertain and was known for hosting memorable parties. Audrey also loved her furry, four-legged companions. She adored her Scottish Terriers, "Tillie" and "Charlie" and all of her many cats. Over the years she also rescued several kittens, who enjoyed long lives under her loving care. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Christ Church 4 Wellers Bridge Road Roxbury, Connecticut, on Saturday, March 25, at 11:00am. Afterwards, Audrey's remains will be laid to rest next to her beloved Jack in St. Patrick's Cemetery on Hemlock Road.
