Audrey Laabs

Audrey Ann Laabs (ne Whitney) passed away on January 24,2022 at the Shanti Niketan Hospice House in Glasgow, Ky. She was 86 years old. Audrey was born to Claude and Harriet (Schmidt) Whitney in Colby, Wisconsin on March 17, 1935. She earned her Registered Nurse's license in 1962 from the Minnesota Board of Nursing. She enjoyed a long and successful career in hospital nursing for various hospitals throughout the country, including her longest tenure at TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, Ky, from which she retired in the early 1990's. After her retirement, she and her late husband, Bernie, enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe, visiting old friends, and making new ones along the way. Audrey was a member of the Methodist faith and served as director and piano player of many churches in the various states she lived in, throughout her life. Most recently, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Glasgow, Ky. Mrs. Laabs was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie, of 65 years, as well as her parents and brother, Claude (Bud) Whitney II. Survivors include her five daughters: Ruth Laabs-Wilcox, Davenport, IA; Kimberly Phillips, Asheville, NC; Lisa Laabs, Louisville, KY; Kris Coghill (Alan), Chapin, SC; and Amy Pope, Bowling Green, KY. Audrey is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the AF Crow Funeral Home in Glasgow, Ky. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2:00-3:00pm on Saturday, January 29, with the funeral following immediately at 3:00pm Saturday. A summer graveside service is planned for an undetermined date at the cemetery in Colby, Wisconsin. Memorials can be directed either to the Ky.
