Austin Lindly May 96, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at his home. He was born in Daviess County, KY the son of the late Henry Howard May and Maggie Fields May. Mr. May was also preceded in death by his wife Virginia Morton May and a sister. Mr. May was the owner and operator of May's Shoe Store on the square in Glasgow for many years and also partnered in real estate development with his friends locally. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran serving in WWII. Austin had served as a Glasgow City Councilman and was a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday school teacher. He is survived by his two children Gary May and wife Betsy and Kathy May Harris and husband Mike all of Glasgow; five grandchildren Katherine May- Brown and husband Parrish Brown of Washington, DC, Robert Warrick May and wife Susan of Germantown, TN, Meagan Morton Harris of Lexington, Laura Elizabeth Burgan and husband Michael Burgan of Columbia and Michael Lee Austin Harris at Lindsey-Wilson College in Columbia. Three great-grandchildren also survive Elizabeth Brown, and Truman and Ethan May. Funeral services will be 12:00 Saturday, November 21st at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 until time for the service. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the First Christian Church, 1100 N. Race St. Glasgow, KY 42141 or the Columbia Ave. Church of Christ, 315 Columbia Ave., Glasgow, KY 42141 or to your favorite organization or charity.
