Barbara Sikes Motley 80 of Glasgow passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Saturday, September 10, 2016 at her daughter's home in Hendersonville, TN. She was born August 31, 1936 in Scottsville, KY to Jake and Kathleen Franklin Sikes. She was married to the late Kenneth C. Motley, and together they ran a successful business in Glasgow for many years; Motley Transfer Moving and Storage. She later worked at Gladys K's Dress Shop and Unique Gifts. She loved giving to her community and was very active as a member of the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce and named a lifetime Chamber Ambassador. She was a founding member of the Glasgow Quarterbackette Club, a member of Glasgow Garden Club, Glasgow Musicale and helped form the Glasgow Jr. Music Makers Club. Barbara had been active with the Scottie Band Parents and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She was named a Kentucky Colonel. She was a faithful member of the Glasgow Baptist Church and Sunday school teacher until her health prevented her from attending. She is survived by her son Dr. Gregory S. Motley and wife Mary Mac of Ashville, NC and their daughters Midshipman Annabell and Laci Motley; her daughter Angela Mills Motley Stutler and husband Tim of Hendersonville, TN and their children Ken C. Stutler and Hannah Mills Stutler. She is also survived by her loving sister Melba Richardson of Glasgow, brother Larry Sikes of Scottsville, nieces Robbie Halcomb Leech (Terry) of Louisville, Laura Beth Rufolo (Jeff) of Chattanooga and Katie Sikes of Louisville. Nephews include Todd Sikes (Missy) of Scottsville, Tyler Sikes (Stephanie) of Scottsville, and Jay Sikes of Louisville, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews as well as cousins and relatives on both sides of the family. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Daphne Sikes Halcomb. Funeral services will be 3:00 Saturday, September 17th at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home in Glasgow with burial in the Crescent Hill Cemetery in Scottsville, KY. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 and Saturday from 1:00 until time for services. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the Barbara S. Motley Scholarship Fund, c/o U. S. Bank, 200 S. Green St., Glasgow, KY 42141.
