Barry David Britt 46 of Glasgow, died Saturday June 28, 2008 at his home after a sudden illness. He was born in Glasgow, the son of David and Arnetta Littrell Britt of Smiths Grove who survive. Mr. Britt was a 1980 graduate of Barren County High School and attended Western Ky. University receiving a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. He continued his education at WKU earning a Master's degree in Elementary Counseling and a Rank 1 in School Administration. He was currently serving as principal at Red Cross Elementary. A position he has held since July of 2005. Prior to joining the staff at Red Cross, he held various positions in the Barren County school system. He began his career at Austin Tracy Elementary as a primary teacher. He held this position for 7 years before becoming an itinerant elementary counselor for the next 6 years. Mr. Britt was then named Vice Principal at Barren County Middle School. Most recently, he has served as director of the Barren County Day Treatment Center and was a member of various administrative associations. He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is survived by 2 sisters, Marsha Phillippi (Barry) of Smiths Grove and Amanda Elrod (Jason) of Oakland; 2 nephews Trey Wyatt and Seth Elrod; maternal grandparents Rev. Roger and Marie Littrell of Smiths Grove; longtime special and best friends, Mike Propes, Johnny Harrison, Mike Martin and Melinda Overstreet; Aunts and uncles: Betty (Wendell) Glass, Charles (Margie) Littrell, Freida Littrell, Sandra (Gary) Smith, Velma (Ralph) Hood, Patricia (Kenneth Ray) Beckham, Kenny (Kathy) Littrell, Tommy (Sheila) Beckham and Debbie (Jackie) Howard and several cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother Larry Dana Britt and his paternal grandparents Jesse and Treva Britt. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Wednesday July 2, 2008 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00am on Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the Barry Britt Scholarship Fund, c/o Red Cross Elementary, 215 Parkview Dr., Glasgow, KY 42141.
