Bertha Blankenship, 77, of Glasgow, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021, at her residence. Bertha was born on April 3, 1944, to the late Jim and Ellen Daniels Blakley. Until their retirement, she and her husband Elmer lived and worked in Illinois in the summer and Florida in the winter. She attended and helped with the church service at Barren County Healthcare for several years. She did domestic work for several households in Glasgow. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of many years, Elmer Blankenship; brothers, Willie, J.B., Chester, Odell, and Raymond Blakley; sisters, Ina Ruth England and Reba Smith, and several infant siblings. Survivors include her sister, Fairy Devore of Glasgow; brothers, Cecil Blakley (Julieanne) of Illinois, Arnold Blakley (Martha) of Glasgow, James Blakley (Donita) of Edmonton, and Charles Perry of Austin; several nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat T.K. A special thank you to her friends and neighbors who watched out for her during her difficult times. A Graveside service will be held 1:00pm Friday, November 12, 2021, at the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Friday from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at the cemetery. A.F.
