Bert L. Brownfield 87 of Glasgow died Monday, January 11, 2010 at his residence. The 'L' stood for Lincoln after Abe. Born in Gamaliel, KY he was the son of the late Sam and Pearl Jenkins Brownfield. Mr. Brownfield moved to Illinois as a young man searching for work. Mr. Brownfield was a member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church and a US Army Veteran of WWII. He loved the outdoors and was a jack of all trades and master of most. He loved lively conversation and a story with lots of jokes. Survivors include his wife Mary Davidson Brownfield; 2 daughters Arlene Duff and Peggy Dean both of Molene, IL; 2 sons Steve Brownfield of Florida and Dennis Brownfield of Iowa; brother-in-law Paul Sivil of Moline, IL; several step children, 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Betty McNall Brownfield, 1 brother and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday, January 14, 2010 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Gamaliel Cemetery with Military Honors provided by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be after 4PM Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the funeral home.
