Bettie Jane Wells

Bettie Jane Wells, 88, of Canmer, Kentucky passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022 at her residence. She was born December 10, 1933 in Pontiac, Michigan to the late George and Ailene Tallieu Scholtz. Bettie retired from teaching after 20 years in multiple states, including, Michigan, Illinois, and Georgia. Mrs. Wells loved cross-stitching, crocheting, quilting, and needlework. She also loved playing any kind of game with her grandchildren. Some of her favorites included playing baseball, throwing snowballs, shooting each other with rubber bands, and especially playing Rummikub. She played Rummikub for over 30 years with anyone who would play with her. She even taught one of her great grandsons how to play. Mrs. Wells was a very fun, family-oriented woman and she was a devoted member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hodgenville. Survivors include her children, Ann Powell (Keith), Kenneth Wells (Karen), David Wells (Kay), Kevin Wells (Stacie); eleven grandchildren, Ryan Wells (Kali), Hope Wells, Ashley Terry (Tyler), Alex Wells, Zachary Wells (Alyce), Kaylin Wells (Tori), Connor Wells, Margaret Wells, Joshua Jones, Lindsey Wright (Jake), Taylor Powell; four great grandchildren, Weston Wright, Ronin Wells, Lucah Wells, Ryleigh-Rae Wells; one sister, Donna Ware (Don); and one brother in law, Bob Zimmerman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 65 years, Charles Francis Wells; one son, Gregory Wells; and her twin sister, Bonnie Zimmerman. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter Kaden Tower 6100 Dutchmans LN STE 401 Louisville, Kentucky 40205-3284. The family has honored Mrs. Wells wishes and chosen cremation. A memorial service will be held 12:00 PM EST Saturday, March 19th at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hodgenville. A. F.
