Betty Ross Bailey, 88, died in Glasgow, Kentucky on February 21, 2022. Betty was a graduate of University of Kentucky and majored in Social Work. She served as Director of Social Services at the State Tuberculosis Hospital and finished her career as a Probation and Parole Officer. She often mentored young social workers and shared her passion and ethics for the profession. Survivors include nephews, Mike Ross of Glasgow, David Ross (Shirley) of Glasgow; niece, Sandy Ross of Hiseville; sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Ross of Glasgow; special friends, Eugene & Julia Smith of Glasgow, Emogene Riherd, and Karen Rector; several great and great great nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, David W. Bailey, parents, John B and Nell Crawford Ross, brother, Edward Ross and nephew, Dennis Ross. She and her husband, David, were passionate about raising and showing Tennessee Walking horses. They won many blue ribbons and enjoyed lasting friendships. Betty enjoyed entertaining, traveling, horse shows, supporting local charities and was an avid bridge and golf player. She loved her Kentucky Wildcats and rarely missed a basketball game. Betty mentored many young people in her lifetime, and all remained blessed by her positive influence. She attended Hiseville Christian Church and the family requests expressions of sympathy to the church, Shanti Niketan Hospice House or the Barren River Animal Welfare Association. Funeral service will be 11:00am Friday, February 25th at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm and on Friday morning until time for the service at the funeral home. A.F. Crow is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Bailey.
