Betty Jean Wilson Gentry, 73, of Glasgow, Kentucky passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021 at her residence. She was born October 3, 1947 in Glasgow, Kentucky to the late Clavis Wilson and Geneva Sexton Wilson. Betty was the President of Big Meadow Oil, which was founded in 1981 by her and her co-founder, Sheila Pruitt. In 2019, they sold the business to her daughter, Kim Harper, but Betty and Shelia remained Directors. Throughout her life she was awarded three prestigious awards: Blue Chip Enterprise Award, Castro Industrial North America Award for quality service and pride in the continuous improvement of the Castro/Saturn program, and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet 1993 Disadvantaged Business Enterprise of the Year for outstanding performance in the Kentucky Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program. Mrs. Gentry also worked cattle side by side with her son, Scotty Reece, she was of the Baptist faith, and a graduate of the Metcalfe County Class of 1965. Survivors include her loving husband, Don Gentry; one daughter, Kim Reece Harper (John) of Edmonton, Kentucky; three sons, Scotty Reece (Angela) of Edmonton, Kentucky, Bryan Gentry (Natalie) of Tell City, Indiana, Todd Gentry of Bowling Green, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Whitney Bell (Chris) of Russell Springs, Kentucky, Taylor White of Edmonton, Kentucky, Jessica Dennison (Logan) of Northtown, Kentucky, Taylor Gentry of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Echo Reece of Glasgow, Kentucky; four great grandchildren, Layton Dennison, Allison Dennison, Haiden White, Brezlynn Reece; two brothers, Leon Wilson (Elaine) of Glasgow, Kentucky and Mike Wilson (Tootsie) of Edmonton, Kentucky; and special friends, Sheila and Mike Pruitt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Dale Wilson. The funeral service for Mrs. Gentry will be held 1:00 PM Monday, August 30th at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Monday morning until time for the service at the funeral home. A. F.
