Billy George Elmore 69 of Glasgow died Monday, May 2, 2011 at his home. He was born in Springfield, IL but has lived in Glasgow and Barren County for most of his life. Billy was a graduate of Temple Hill High School and Western Kentucky University. He taught Electricity at the Barren County Vocational School for 10 years before returning to full time work as an electrical contractor with his company, Elmore Construction. He was a member and served many years as a Deacon at the Glasgow Baptist Church and most recently was in charge of the kitchen and the Wednesday night cooking teams. He was very active with the Habitat for Humanity where he had served as past president and loved building the homes. He was also involved with the Restore for Habitat for Humanity and was as active member and past president of the Barren River Rod and Gun Club. Billy enjoyed volunteering for the Plaza Theatre and the Far Off Broadway Players where he enjoyed helping to build the sets. He had also served with the 623rd. F.A., Kentucky National Guard.
