Bobby Dennis Driver 66 of Glasgow, KY died Thursday January 27, 2005 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was born in Holland, KY January 15, 1939 and moved to the Temple Hill Community of Barren County in 1951. He graduated from Temple Hill High School and was an outstanding athlete in football, basketball, baseball and track. He was a 1964 graduate of Western KY University where he played baseball all four years and was a member of the 'W' Club. During the season of 1964 he was the acting assistant baseball coach. As a result of his love of sports he became a high school coach. At Hiseville he coached football, J.V. Basketball and boy's track and also starting his teaching career. He later taught and coached at Glasgow High and Allen County High Schools. While at Allen County he started the first varsity football team. He ended his 30 year teaching and coaching career at Glasgow Middle School where he taught social studies and coached 8th grade football and girls basketball. Bobby was an umpire for the Glasgow Recreation Dept. during summer months and also played for the Groce Oil softball team and the American Legion Baseball Team. He was a member of the South Green St. Church of Christ in Glasgow. He is survived by his wife of 27 years Betty Smith Driver, one son Brian Driver and wife Misty of Glasgow; one grandson Ethan Driver; two sisters Margie White and husband George of Temple Hill, Ky and Mary Ann Nunn and husband Carroll of Glasgow; an Aunt Dorotha Fishburn and husband Billy of Lafayette, TN, two sisters in law Joann Bardwell and husband Ron of Lafayette, TN and Christine Staggs and husband George of Waverly, TN and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Sunday January 30, 2005 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Poplar Log Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00am Saturday.
