Carolyn Young

Carolyn B. Young, age 70, of Caneyville passed away Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, KY. She was born on January 3, 1942 in Grayson County, the daughter of Oliver Franklin and Myrtie Payton Basham. She was a retired Caneyville school teacher. After teaching elsewhere she began teaching in Caneyville in 1978. Carolyn was a very active member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 50 years Bill Young of Caneyville, her son Joel Young (Julie) of Florida, one grandson Nickolas Young of California and one granddaughter Tiffany Young of Frankfort, KY, two great grandsons Braedon Young of California and Liam Meehan of Frankfort, KY, one sister Evelena Pruitt and her sister-in-law Betty Sue Woosley both of Caneyville . She is preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro Matthew Waldrop and Dr. Kenneth Green will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville after 5:00 p.m. Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. Sunday until time of service.
