Cecil Sowers

Cecil Willis Sowers 85 of Glasgow died at his home Friday, July 22, 2016. Born in Barren County he was the son of the late Preston and Ruby Crews Sowers. Cecil was a foreman for Scotty Construction when it started in business and retired after 30 years. He was an avid quarter horse lover and with his family competed in shows and competitions. Cecil was a member of the Barren County Baptist Church of Park City. He gave his soul to the Lord and was baptized in October 2009. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Velma Williams Sowers; 5 children Edmond "Jim" Sowers and wife Carrie of Smiths Grove, Carolyn Turner and the late Jackie Turner of Temple Hill, Brenda Gossett and husband Jimmie of Park City, David Sowers and wife Tracy of Glasgow and Ann Kelly and husband Kevin of South Carolina; 11grandchildren Chad (Robyn) Sowers, Shawn (Beth) Sowers, Dalton Sowers, Daniel (Molly) Turner, Casey Turner, Dusty Gossett, Halie (Ben) Thomas, Justin Sowers, Brandon (Jennifer) Kelly, Jeanne Ann Kelly and Zackary Kelly; 9 great-grandchildren Bailey, Luke, Hunter, Lily and Gracie Sowers, Grady and Anabelle Turner and twins Jonah and Addie Thomas due in October. He was preceded in death by a brother Carl Sowers. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, July 24th at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Barren County Baptist Church of Park City.
