Charles Amos Furlong 78 of Glasgow, died Thursday November 12, 2009 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born in Barren County the son of the late Leslie Amos and Mila Hawkins Furlong. Mr. Furlong was retired from G.E. and was a farmer. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Old Zion United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Charles Michael Furlong (Robin) and Robert Barry Furlong (Teresa) both of Summer Shade; 1 step-son Danny Tibbs, 3 grandchildren, Kristopher Michael Furlong (Grant) of Georgetown, Derek Scott Furlong (Jenny) of Glasgow and Miranda Nichole Furlong of Summer Shade; 4 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, James Furlong of Glasgow, Billy Furlong (Pernie) of Magnolia and Donald Furlong (Sue) of Glasgow; 4 sisters Grace Smith and Bessie Lee Gibbons both of Glasgow, Barbara Wooten (Thurman) of Park City and Annie Settles (Billy) of Austin. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jewell and Leroy Furlong. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday November 15, 2009 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Burial with military honors provided by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow will be in the Old Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
