Charles Vernon Jackson 74 of Glasgow passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Born in Edmonson County, he was the son of the late H. B. Jackson and Martha G. Jackson of Glasgow who survives. Charles was veteran serving in the U. S. Army and a Captain with the Glasgow Fire Dept. for 16 years. He owned and operated Charlie's Grocery at Haywood, and retired as a meter reader from Atmos Energy. He was an avid sportsman and a friend to many. In addition to his mother he is survived by his loving wife, Eloise; a daughter Charlanne Pook of Lexington; a step-daughter Debbie Marion (Jim deceased) of Glasgow; a step-son Morris Borders (Debbie) of Glasgow; 4 step-grandchildren Jamie Biven (Jonathan), Jill Marion, Rhea Bucher (Ben) and Marissa Borders and 5 step-great granddaughters, Marion and Madeline Biven, Bryna Atwell, Nautia Bucher and Verade Pardue. Funeral services will be 2pm Sunday, October 12th at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 5pm until 8pm and Sunday from 11am until time for services. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to Community Medical Care, American Cancer Society or BRAWA.
