Charles Rich

Charles Donald 'Charlie' Rich 73 of Haywood died Friday August 30, 2013 at the NHC Healthcare facility in Glasgow. He was born November 10, 1939 at home in Hermitage Springs, TN to the late Woodrow Rich and Willo Dean Green Rich. He was the first born of 4 children Charles, George, Nell & Steve. In 1958 he began working for Pace Equipment Co. in Glasgow as a diesel mechanic. In 1959 he transferred to the J.F. Pace Construction Co. In February of 1966 Charles began a new job for Tyson Bearings a division of S.K.F. Industries where he was employed as a Maintenance Mechanic for 36years. In November of 1959 Charles married Elsie Lee Matthews and had one son Michael Matthew Rich. In 1969 Charles and Elsie bought a 13 acre farm in Haywood where he enjoyed raising beef cattle. His other interests include trapshooting, hunting, fishing, bowling and helping all his friends with mechanical issues. He was saved by the grace of god and baptized in 1960 and was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 53 years Elsie Lee Matthews Rich of Haywood; 1 son Michael Matthew Rich and wife Kris of Clarksville, TN; 3 grandchildren William Charles Matthew Rich, Justin Michael Rich and Casey Alice Rich; 2 great grandchildren; 1 brother Steve and wife Judy of Hermitage Springs, TN; 1 sister Nell Birdwell and husband Stanley of Hermitage, TN; 1 aunt Lavelle Dyer of Radcliff, KY and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother George Eagle Rich. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Tuesday September 3, 2013 at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00pm till 8:00pm Monday at the funeral home.
