Clarence W. Frederick, 91 years old, died at his Glasgow home Saturday, April 14th. Born in Fremont, OH May 16, 1920, he had been a Glasgow resident since 1973. He was the son of the late Clarence and Cecile Molyet Frederick. He was educated in the schools of St. Joseph Church in Fremont. He earned both his Bachelor of Aeronautical Engineering and Masters in Business Administration from the University of Detroit. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS CUE Wake Island during WW II. In October of 1945 at the end of the war, he married Marjorie Day of Middletown, Ohio at the Naval Air Station in San Diego. He came to Glasgow as the manager of Gulf and Westerns Sorensen Plant. He later was a part of SKFs management team, was in business with a brother-in-law in Chicago then returned to Glasgow where he retired from Gray Construction Co. He was active in the community- a Paul Harris Fellow with the Glasgow Rotary Club, served on the boards of the local Library and American Red Cross, was a past president of the Glasgow Country Club, and with others was instrumental in initiating the Junior Achievement program locally. His hobby was watercolor painting and he was the director of what was called The Great KY Watercolor Workshop Series, where he hired nationally known watercolorists to direct local artists. Clarence was a member of First United Methodist Church and its Welcome Sunday School Class. Survivors include his wife Marjorie; a son Peter Frederick of Haywood; 3 grandchildren Meghan Walters (Andrew), Lindsey Dodson (Dwayne) and Benjamin Norris; 5 great-grandchildren Caitlin, Lauren, J.D., Braxton and Breyonna; 2 sisters Mary Margaret Notheis (John) of Cumming, GA and Kathleen Wanzeck of Littleton, CO and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Sarah Norris Huff, his parents; and step-father Leon Koleman; a brother Cyril Frederick and a brother-in-law William Wanzeck. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery at 10:00 AM Saturday before the funeral. Visitation will be at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home Friday from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Alternate expressions of sympathy may be made to your favorite organization or charity.
