Funeral services for David Bowman Ritter of Summer Shade will be Friday, February 11, 2005 at 1:00pm at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Union #2 Cemetery near Nobob. Mr. Ritter Died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005 at his home with his family by his side. He was 73. He was a member of the South Green St. Church of Christ in Glasgow. He was born on a farm near Temple Hill, KY on Jan. 28, 1932 to the late Glenn Denham and Berchie Reid Ritter. Mr. Ritter obeyed the gospel of Christ after a revival meeting at the Antioch Church of Christ in 1948 and was baptized at night in the Nobob creek, under the illumination of car headlights. He graduated from the Temple Hill High School in 1950 where he played center on the twice district-championship 6-man football team. He remained close to his classmates his entire life and considered them as his brothers and sisters. he served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict in Fukuoka, Japan. In 1958, he eloped with the former Dottie Nunn of Three Springs, KY and they began their family near Temple Hill. His sons were born in 1960 and 1965. He became a rural mail carrier in Summer Shade in 1963, he and Dottie built a house in Summer Shade in 1964. A charter member of the Mid-Kentucky Antique Car Club, he enjoyed antique cars and had high regard for the other car club members. He collected and restored antiques for over 35yrs. Mr. Ritter retired from the U. S. Postal Service after 30yrs service. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46yrs Dottie Nunn Ritter, their eldest son Tim Ritter and wife Sheila Guthrie Ritter of Alvaton, their youngest son Anthony Lynn Ritter of Chicago, two wonderful grandchildren Shana Ann Ritter and Brian Guthrie Ritter of Alvaton, KY, on brother Robert C. Ritter, Two cousins and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5pm till 9pm at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy can take the form of memorial contributions to the T. J. Samson Hospice at 1306 N. race St. Glasgow, KY 42141
