Dorothy Shaw

Dorothy Maye (young) Shaw, 86, of Caneyville, passed away Wednesday, January 13th, 2016 at the U of L Hospital in Louisville. She was born on Thursday, April 11th, 1929 in Grayson County, the daughter of the late Ollie and Clois (Young) Preston. Dorothy was a member of the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning and quilting. She also loved caring for her dog, Bo. Dorothy is survived by her son, Emmett Shaw (Connie) of Caneyville; her daughter, Regina Stone (Charles) also of Caneyville; four grandchildren, Crystal Moore, Karen Stone, Jason and Jeremy Stevenson; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley and Logan Logsdon and Blake, Mason, Layla, Jordan and Waylon Stevenson and three great-great-grandchildren, McKayla, Zyler and Zaya. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Creed Shaw.Funeral services will be Saturday, January 16th at 11:00 am at the Hopewell Church in Caneyville. Bro Chris Cann will be officiating. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery.Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Friday after 4:00 pm and Saturday at the Hopewell Church from 9:00 am until time of service.
