Robert 'Doug' Douglas Thompson, age 52, was born July 9, 1962 in Leitchfield, Kentucky the son of Hattie Lee Fletcher. Known to family and friends as Doug, he was born and raised in Leitchfield, Kentucky. Doug graduated from Grayson County High School where he was a 3 year Varsity Letterman in football and basketball. He was selected to the Courier Journal First Team All-State Football Team and played in the East/West All-Star game. Doug also played one year of college football at Georgetown College where he was named freshman of the year. Dough Thompson was an exceptional athlete and person who was loved and well liked by those who knew him. He is survived by his children, Joseph M. Dean (Meagan) and Shauna R. Dean (Tonya Dean), brother, William R. Thompson, sister, Angela N. Thompson, grandchildren, Seriannah M. Dean, Ciara A. Isham, Skylar M. Isham, & Sabriana P. Isham-Dean, three nieces, Chloe F., Jamyla, & Jamari Thompson and one nephew, Jeremiah Thompson. Doug also leaves behind loving uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family members and numerous friends. He was loved by many people and he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, William N. Thompson and Hattie Lee Fletcher Drummond, grandfather, Fred D. Fletcher and grandmother, Mary E. Fletcher. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 (CST) a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the Watson & Hunt Funeral Chapel in Leitchfield. Burial will held in Leitchfield Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 and from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Thursday.
