Douglas William Burgess 56 of Glasgow died Tuesday November 4, 2008 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Glasgow the son of the late William and Pernie Perkins Burgess. He was an employee of Frasier Rental and Mid-State Recycling and before his illness, was the minister of Clover Hill Church of Christ in Monroe County. He was a member of the Beckton Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Edith Atkinson Burgess; 3 sons Jason Burgess, Joe (Nicole) Burgess and Jeff Burgess all of Glasgow; a granddaughter Lilly Burgess; a brother Mike (Linda) Burgess of Horse Cave; 2 sisters Margaret (Sparky) Sparkman of Walkertown, NC and Wanda (Jackie) Moore of Glasgow. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his family of caregivers and T. J. Samson Home Health. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Bobby Burgess. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday November 7, 2008 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2:00pm Thursday.
