Douglas Wayne Gibbons, 70, of Glasgow, KY, formerly of Odenton, MD, passed away January 25, 2021, following a long illness. Born October 14, 1950 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Beauford R. Gibbons and Juanita Edith Greer. He had retired from Nevamar, LLC and worked as an independent realtor in the Anne Arundel County, MD area. Throughout his lifetime, Mr. Gibbons was an avid musician/guitarist, sports enthusiast, and golfer. Mr. Gibbons was preceded in death by his father, mother, and beloved stepmother, Mary Irene Gibbons. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter Melanie Hyer and husband Charles of Pasadena, MD; his sister Robbin Johnston and husband Jeffrey of Clarksville, TN, his surviving step-sister Paula Huffman and husband Michael of Glasgow, step-brother Michael Slaven of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, Caleb, Mason, Charlotte, & Meghan Hyer of Pasadena, MD; two nephews, Chris (Julie) Johnston, Greg Johnston, and two nieces, Jessica Johnston and Amanda (Michael) Blevins and their son John, all of Clarksville, TN. For those who knew Douglas well, he was a brilliant thinker, highly creative, and often comical in his approach to life. After his retirement to Glasgow, he spent much of his time privately; however, he would interact on social media regularly with his lifelong friends, as well as others with his beloved "News From Da Stix" posts and commentary. His wit, silliness, and ability to laugh at himself as well as others made him a highlight of the day for those who loved him and followed his online antics. A private remembrance will be held by close family. His family and friends are encouraged to leave messages and share memories on his Facebook page for the near future as a means of memorializing his life and remembering him for those who loved him. A. F. Crow & Son is both honored and privileged to be entrusted in the care of Mr. Gibbons. Please share your condolences with the family at www.crowfuneralhome.com.
