Douglas Gibbons

Douglas Gene Gibbons, 82, of Glasgow, died Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green. He was born in Glasgow, March 11, 1934, the son of the late Hershel J. Gibbons and Sarah Elizabeth Sheffield Gibbons. Mr. Gibbons was a farmer and owner/operator of Gibbons Appliance Company in Glasgow for many years and later he worked as a Lab Tech for Dairyman Inc. in Glasgow. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include his wife Linda Pickett Gibbons of Glasgow; son Stephen Gibbons(Jackie) of Glasgow; 3 grandchildren Akela, Kristopher and Isabella Gibbons all of Glasgow; 2 sisters in law Bessie Lee Gibbons and Blondell Gibbons both of Glasgow. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 5 brothers Walter, Earl, Louis, Arthur and Waldo Gibbons; 4 sisters Ruby Dell Smith, Alice Boles, Effie Chase and Alma Chase. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Monday, December 19, 2016 at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Military honors provided by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be after 2;00pm Sunday at the funeral home.
