Edith Piercy

Edith Frances Matthews Piercy 88 of Glasgow, died Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville. Born in Barren County she was the daughter of the late Brent and Mary Ellie Houchens Matthews and the wife of the late Samuel Taylor Piercy. Survivors include 1 daughter Wanda Snyder and 1 son Charles E. Bartlett (Marilyn) both of Louisville, 2 grandsons David & Greg Bartlett, 4 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren 3 sisters Helen Taylor and Dorothy Huddleston both of Glasgow, Louise Bartlett of Clarks Hill, IN, several nieces and nephews along with many loving and caring friends also survive. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by 5 sisters Laura Alice Claspell, Elizabeth Ritter, Ida Sisco, Catherine Everett and Lillian Harrison, 4 brothers Ernest, Hal, Kenneth and William Matthews. Funeral services will be held 12 noon on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be 3PM until 7PM on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at the funeral home.
