Edmond T. 'Tommy' Poynter 73 of Glasgow died Monday February 6, 2006 at his home. He was born in Glasgow, May 4, 1932, the son of the late L.A. Poynter and Ruth Foster Poynter. He was a lifelong farmer and a retired rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Glasgow. Mr. Poynter served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean War. He was a member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Idelle Thomas Poynter; two sons Eddie (Bernice) Poynter and Ricky (Jeannie) Poynter both of Glasgow; five grandchildren, Tasha (Tommy) Caffee of Bowling Green, Todd Poynter of Glasgow, Brenda (Terry) Wilson of Shepherdsville, Tammy (Greg) Groce of Horse Cave and Patty Link of Glasgow. Eight great-grandchildren; a sister Betty Lou Hurt (O.R.)of Elkton, KY and several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Alvin Poynter and two sisters Earlene Whitlow and Lydia Frazier and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Thursday February 9, 2006 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 5pm on Tuesday.
