Edward Bryan Eddie Hatchett, 80, of Glasgow, KY, died January 25, 2006 in Glasgow. A fourth generation Barren Countian and native of Hiseville, he was the son of the late Edward Black and Annie Strader Hatchett. Following service in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, he attended the University of Kentucky, where he was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi. While at UK, he met Katherine Kay Azbill. They married in 1949 and returned to Hiseville to establish a farming operation. A farmer and successful businessman, he was for many years the bookkeeper and office manager for numerous local tobacco warehouses. He was also active in the professional and civic affairs of Hiseville and Glasgow. Mr. Hatchett was former president of Farmers Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation and was recently honored for forty years of service on the board of directors. In addition, he was a former member of the board of directors of East Kentucky Power Cooperative Corporation. He also served for many years on the board of directors of the former Hiseville Deposit Bank. He was a founder and president of the former Hiseville Lions Club, and a member of the Glasgow Rotary Club, and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a long-time member of the Hiseville Baptist Church and for many years taught the mens Sunday school class. Mr. Hatchett was very athletic and an avid golfer. His wife, Kay Hatchett, preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Hatchett, and her husband, Barry Levy, of DeLand, Florida and Glasgow, and his son, Edward B. Hatchett, Jr. and his wife Judith Hatchett, of Frankfort. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Catherine Hatchett of Frankfort, Elizabeth Hatchett of Louisville, and James Hatchett of Bowling Green. Mr. Hatchett is also survived by his sister, Sara Hale Hatchett Gardner, of Cave City, a sister-in-law Margaret Hatchett, of Hampton, Va., several nephews and a niece. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2pm C.S.T. at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home in Glasgow, with entombment in the Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 2:00pm until 7:00pm C.S.T. and on Sunday from 11:00am until time for services. The family requests that alternate expressions of sympathy take the form of memorial contributions to the Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library, 107 W. College St., Glasgow, KY 42141.
