Edwin Neil Norris 91 of Glasgow died Friday, May 09, 2014 at his home. He was born September 6, 1922 in Glasgow, KY, the son of the late Robert Harry Sr. and Caroline Compton Norris. Mr. Norris was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy. Serving as a Second Lieutenant in the U. S. Air Force during WWII, Mr. Norris piloted a B-17 based in England. Following his discharge, Mr. Norris graduated from Vanderbilt University. On June 15, 1958, he married Jo Ann Landrum Norris who preceded him in death in 2007.. He was also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert H. Norris, Jr. and Honey Norris. Mr. Norris was a partner in R.H. Norris and Sons Supply. He was also actively involved in beef and pork production in Barren County and most recently owned and operated Trojan Trail Self-Storage. Mr. Norris was a founding member of the Glasgow Municipal Airport, serving on its Board of Directors from January 1958 to December 1987. He also served on the Board of Directors of Citizens Bank and Trust Co./Trans Financial Bank for 27 years from 1965-1992 and T. J. Samson Community Hospital Board of Directors for 33 years, retiring as its Vice-Chairman in 1997. He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Glasgow. He is survived by his daughter, Yvonne Norris Bartley of Glasgow and his son, John Franklin Norris and wife, Laura of Englewood, FL; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Norris, Robert Harry Norris II, and Victoria Yvonne Bartley. Mr. Norris chose cremation and his remains will be interred at the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Glasgow Saturday, May 24th at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be at the church from 1:00 PM until time for the service. A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, The American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
