Elizabeth "Betty" Boarman Clark, 82, of Owensboro, joined her son, John Patrick, In their eternal home on May 13, 2018. She died at Owensboro Regional Health Hospital surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren. One of 16 children, Betty was born on May 1, 1936 in Whitesville, Kentucky to the late Hubert and Estelle Boarman. She graduated from St. Mary of the Woods High School and went on to study nursing at Catherine Spalding College and graduating from St. Mary & Elizabeth's School of Nursing in 1957. Betty spent the next 42 years in various roles of nursing, including time at the Carmel Home as Director, Hermitage Manor, Our Lady of Mercy, and Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital. In 1964 Betty met the love of her life, Larry Clark, and they married on March 5, 1966. Larry and Betty spent 52 years together as husband and wife. Betty often said her greatest accomplishment was her husband and four boys. Together as a family they enjoyed weekends at their cabin at Rough River, spending 42 years making memories. Betty enjoyed painting, knitting, and cooking for her family's get togethers. Everyone except Larry looked forward to eating her famous fried chicken. Betty's two favorite times of the year were Christmas, when she baked rum cakes, made candy, and proudly displayed her collection of 148 Lefton Villages, and basketball season. Betty never missed an opportunity to yell at the refs while watching her beloved UK Wildcats. In addition to her son John Patrick and her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her siblings Harold, George, William "Hop", Marvin and Jimmy Boarman, Lucille Conder, and Lois Fitzgerald. Left to cherish Betty's memory are her husband Larry, sons Bob (Kathy) Clark, Mike (Christie) Clark, Jeff (Holly) Clark, her grandchildren Dawn, Monica, Erica, Heath, Hayden, Brady, Ryan, Jonathon, and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Lou, Eloise, John, JC, and Bill Boarman, Imogene Fitzgerald, Rose Wheatley, Mary Jo Hagerman, and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty could not have made it through the last few years without the help of our friend, Annette Connor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in Betty's name to The Carmel Home, Our Lady of Lourdes Parrish, or Blessed Sacrament Chapel. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family would like to thank The Carmel Home, the nurses at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, Dr. Carrico, and Dr. Gupta for the excellent care they provided to Betty. Services will be 11:00 am Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with Father Pat Reynolds officiating. Visitation will be 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday, May 16, 2018, and 9:00 am to 10:30 am Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory.
