Elizabeth Thomas

Elizabeth Bernie Thomas, 79, went to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness. She was born February 5, 1929 in Carmi, Illinois. She had retired from General Electric and was a member of the Methodist Faith. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, watching Ky. Wesleyan Basketball, loved her cats, watching birds and feeding the squirrels. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hayward Thomas and Eula Tucker Thomas; brothers, Henry Thomas and Wendell Thomas; sisters, Lucille Morgan and Helen Metcalf. Surviving goddaughter, Libby Clemens of Owensboro; friend and caregiver, Norma Collier of Owensboro; brothers, Art Thomas of Carmi and Harold Thomas and his wife, Ann of Evansville. Services are at 11am. Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home Chapel, visitation is from 2 to 8pm. Tuesday and from 9 to 11am. Wednesday at the funeral home. Rev. Phil Curran will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi, Illinois. The family request expressions of sympathy in the form of donations to: Daviess County Human Society or Gideon Bible. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
