Elzie Mccandless

Elzie McCandless 82 of Glasgow, died Sunday, January 25, 2009 at the T J Samson Community Hospital. Born in Barren County he was the son of the late Hayden and Ella Shoopman McCandless. Mr. McCandless was retired serviceman of 33 years for Western Kentucky Gas Company and member of the New Salem Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife Helen Furlong McCandless 1 daughter Rosemary Gassaway (Mark) of Glasgow, 2 sons Rusty McCandless (Renee') of Glasgow, Ronnie McCandless (Pat) of Cave City, KY, 1 step-son Bobby Kinslow of Iraq, 5 step-daughters Anna Hubbard (Jeff) of Rocky Hill, Juanita Lykens (Bobby) of Park City, Mary Lou Sells (Geary) of Glasgow, Elizabeth Buckley (Bobby) of Charlotte, TN, and Peggy Thomas of Park City, 2 sisters Nina Brown of Glasgow, Irene Maupin of Fairdale, KY, 5 grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 7 step Great grandchildren also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Mary McCandless, 2 granddaughters Lacey McCandless and Krissy Hurt, 1sister Nancy Webb, 4 brothers Bud, Ewell, Welby and Will McCandless. Funeral services will be held 11AM Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the New Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 PM Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at the funeral home.
