Essie Ashley

Essie M (Embry) Ashley, 93, of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, February 3rd, 2016 at Louisville Baptist Health. She was born on Tuesday, January 16th, 1923 in Butler County, the daughter of the late Vannie Jackson and Mary Elizabeth (Brooks) Embry. Essie retired after 27 years from Brown Williamson Tobacco Company. She also loved playing Bingo with her family. Essie is survived by her son, Archie H Ashley Jr of KY; three daughters, Janice L Beasley (Buck) of Bloomfield, Argie Kiper (John) and Patty Cardwell both of Louisville; one brother, VJ Embry of Butler County; two sisters, Myrtle Wilson of Fordsville and Opal Burden of Louisville; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of more than 45 years, Archie Hillard Ashley; four brothers, Billy Embry, James Embry, Willard Embry and Cecil Embry and one great-grandson, Thomas Lee Ashley.Funeral services will be Saturday, February 6th at 2:00 pm CST at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro Stanley Elmore will be officiating. Burial will be in the Wilson Home Cemetery.Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Saturday after 10:00 am until time of service.
