Ethel Flowers Fant 86 of Glasgow died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the NHC Healthcare Facility in Glasgow. She was born in Wilkinson, MS the daughter of the late Thomas Wesley Flowers and Jesse Netterville Flowers. Mrs. Fant was a graduate of Tulane Nursing School and was a registered nurse. She was retired from T. J. Samson Community Hospital and had been a part of a medical missionary to Tanzania. Mrs. Fant was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army Nurse Corp in 1945 - 1946. She had served Barren County as a former Barren County Court Clerk and was a member of Columbia Ave. Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Stanley Fant, a son Dr. Robert David Fant, three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include a daughter Suzanne Fant of Glasgow; a son Robert Dennis Fant (Rita) of Searcy, AR; Foster Daughter Carolyn Bautista (Silvestre) of Glasgow; 8 grandchildren Laura Jo Murphy (Daniel) of Columbia, TN, Dwayne Rutledge and Joseph Fant of Glasgow, Charlie Fant and Jessie Fant of Glasgow, Katie Fant Smith (Nathan) of Austin, TX, Courtney Fant Hirscheider (Blake) of N. Little Rock, AR and Carson Fant of Nashville, TN; 6 great grandchildren; 3 sisters Anna Mae Moreland and Willie Andrews of Baton Rouge, LA, and Ellen Baragona of Natchez, MS and one brother Pernell Flowers of Natchez, MS. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, February 5, 2010 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to Community Medical Care, 120 State Ave., Glasgow, KY 42141.
