Eula Barton Steenbergen 90 of Glasgow died Wednesday January 7, 2009 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. She was born in Quapaw, Oklahoma the daughter of the late James Thomas and Maybelle Jones Barton. Mrs. Steenbergen was a school teacher for 42 years and began her career teaching in one room schools in Barren County for four years and completed her teaching career in the Glasgow Independent Schools where she was one of the original teachers in the Glasgow system. She had a love for writing poetry and stories. Mrs. Steenbergen was a member of the Grider Memorial Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Guy Lee Steenbergen. She is survived by a daughter Wanda Steenbergen Dee of Buffalo, NY; two sons Joel Douglas Steenbergen and wife Katherine of Bowling Green and Keith Barton Steenbergen and his loving cats of Glasgow; 5 grandchildren Sandra Dee Bookmiller, Richard R. Dee II, Leslie Dee Meggo, Jeremy J. Steenbergen and Jennifer Steenbergen Perkinson; 6 great grandchildren and a dear sister-in-law Mattye Hazel Steenbergen of Glasgow. She also leaves behind her three beloved cats. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday January 9, 2009 at the Grider Memorial Baptist Church with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home on Thursday from 4pm until 8pm and on Friday from 11am until the time for the service.
