Evan Layne Wright, 25, of Bowling Green, Kentucky passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024 at his residence. He was born February 21, 1999 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky to John and Sharon Wright. Evan was a graduate of Central Hardin High School and Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, where he obtained two associate degrees. He was a member of Valley Creek Baptist Church.
Evan was diagnosed with Juvenile Type 1 Diabetes at age 10. Through this journey, he developed a huge heart for others with health challenges and special needs. He had many hobbies and interests, including building a profitable eBay merchandising site as a teenager, a love of athletic sneakers and rubber ducks, watching anime, vintage thrifting, mustangs, his truck, and nearly 100 house plants that he nurtured. Evan also loved many animals, including his Corgi dog, Speckles. He enjoyed all sports, especially UFC fighting. As he grew, all styles of music became a passion for him, especially Johnny Cash. Evan enjoyed bantering with his brothers and was always up for a hot topic debate.
Evan approached life with a spicy boldness that allowed him to fill any room with his bigger than life presence. He traveled life with two speeds and lived at the heights of mountain tops and the depths of valleys. He knew very little in between. His greatest heights included finding love with Whitney, as he shared often, “that’s my girl.” Three weeks ago, Evan experienced his latest height, graduating from Western Kentucky University in Healthcare Administration. Evan’s valleys became a platform for him to choose healthcare and champion for those most downtrodden, especially the elderly and those with special needs. Evan thrived on relationships and finding purpose. In a recent message, Evan texted his mother and Whitney the song, By Your Grace by Cody Johnson. As Evan now rests peacefully, may all who read this listen to that song and seek a relationship with God as your living hope for all of life’s mountains and valleys.
In addition to his parents, Evan is survived by his twin brothers, Logan and Brandon Wright; paternal grandfather, Harry Wright; maternal grandmother, Pinna Hagan; uncles and aunts, J.C. and Debbie Wright, Angie Read; five cousins, Cameron Wright (Chelsea), Conner Wright (Taylor), Taylor Wright, Jordan Tolbert (John), Cameron Read; and his best friend and girlfriend, Whitney Burke, who Evan planned to marry.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Donna Wright and maternal grandfather, L.W. Hagan.
