Floyd Cook

Floyd Ray Cook, 83, of Caneyville, passed away Monday, February 20th, 2017 at the Grayson Nursing and Rehab in Leitchfield. He was born on Monday, April 17th, 1933 in Caneyville, the son of the late Van and Ira (Higdon) Cook. Floyd was a member of the Pleasant Union United Baptist Church in Caneyville. He was a retired farmer and worked for the ASCS for 20 years and drove a school bus for six years. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post 81 in Leitchfield. Floyd is survived by two sons, Tony Ray Cook (Dorothy) of Leitchfield and Ricky Lee Cook (Linda) of Caneyville; eleven grandchildren, Alicia Cook, Emelene Pierce (Casey), Anthony Cook (Heather), Tylor Cook, Amanda Cook, Andrew Cook, Jaylynn Cook, Ellie Grace Cook, Michael Cook (Fawn), Perry Cook and Sammy Cook and sixteen great-grandchildren. Other than his parents, Floyd is preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Rhea (Oller) Cook of 60 years; one son, Marvin Cook; three brothers, John Cook, Ambrose Cook and Roy Cook and three sisters, Cordia Hack, Corene Woodcock and Magdalene Elmore. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 23rd at 12:00 pm at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro Cecil Williams will be officiating. Burial will be in the Wilson Cemetery.Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Wednesday after 3:00 pm and Thursday from 9:00 am until time of service.
