Floyd Deckard

Floyd Jefferson Deckard 88 of Glasgow died Thursday, September 30, 2010 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was born in Monroe County the son of the late Sammie and Donnie Gentry Deckard. Floyd was a lifelong farmer, a member of Pleasant Point Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran of WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Grace Doty Deckard. He is survived by 6 children, Troy Deckard (Ellen), Donnie Denton (David), Bonnie Vernon (Bobby Joe), Faye Groce (Bobby), Tony Deckard (Joyce) and Shelia Shaw (Billy) all of Glasgow; 13 grandchildren, Joseph Denton, Teresa Davis, Donita Butler, Mikki Jolly, Bethany Gaffney, Tommy Vernon, Anthony Vernon, Michelle Willis, Amy Jennings, Stacey Dickson, Luke Deckard, Bryan Groce and Kelly Groce; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 brother James Willard Deckard of Smiths Grove; 1 sister Lillie Mae Green of Glasgow and two half brothers and one half sister. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Sunday, October 3, 2010 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Henderson Cemetery at Finney. Visitation will begin at 3:00pm Saturday.
