Floyd David Wilson, 85, of Caneyville, passed away Friday, May 16th, 2014 at the Edmonson Care Facility in Brownsville. He was born on June 7th, 1928 in Short Creek, the son of the late Sollie and Eula Mae (Day) Wilson. He was a member and a deacon at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Floyd David was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Georgia (Embry) Wilson of Caneyville; their son, Bro David Wilson (Sandy) of Bee Spring; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brother, D.B. Wilson (Helen) of Caneyville and two sisters, Barbara Darst (Jimmy) of Louisville and Mary Katherine Cubbage of Leitchfield. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Lou Sims and Elsie Beatty.Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 am at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro William Dodson and Bro Charles Larry Bell will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Saturday after 5:00 pm, Sunday from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm and Monday from 9:00 am until time of service.
