Dr. Fred E. Marshall, Jr. 83 of Glasgow, KY died Thursday August 21, 2008 at the NHC Healthcare Facility in Glasgow. He was born in Atlanta, GA the son of the late Dr. Fred E. Marshall, Sr. and Chlone Vance Marshall. Dr. Marshall completed his pre-dental studies at Western State College in Bowling Green and graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 1948. He then joined his father in his dental practice in Glasgow and served the community for 55 years until retiring in 2003. While being very active with the dental professional organizations, he was a lifetime member of the Kentucky Dental Assn. and was twice president of the Pennyrile Dental Assn. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War where he was stationed in Okinawa for 14 months. Locally he was a charter member of the Glasgow-Barren County Jaycees, an avid golfer and was a member and former Deacon at the Columbia Ave. Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife Mavis Gabbard Marshall; 2 sons Fred E. Marshall III (Linda) of Hopkinsville, KY and James Edward Marshall of Glasgow; 1 daughter Deborah Marshall Williams (Tony) of Lucas, KY; 3 grandchildren Todd Edward Marshall, Anthony Edward Marshall and Erin Marshall Wolf and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Saturday August 23, 2008 at the Columbia Ave. Church of Christ with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:30 until 8:00pm at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home and on Saturday at the church from 11:00am until time for services. Arrangements are under the direction of the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may be made to the Columbia Ave. Church of Christ or the National Parkinson's Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Ave., Bob Hope Rd., Miami, FL 33136-1494.
