Geneva Cloyd Goode

Geneva Cloyd Goode, of Glasgow, peacefully departed this life surrounded by family on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at TJ Samson Community Hospital having attained the age of 98 years, 7 months, and 3 days. Geneva was born in Cumberland County, Kentucky, October 16, 1925, to the late Charlie Taylor Cloyd and late Flo Gray Cloyd. She was a loving mother and granny who hosted many family gatherings throughout the years and was always happy to babysit all of the families littles. She was a competitive pinochle player, loved antiquing, yard sales, working in her yard, and Kentucky Wildcat Basketball. She was a 1944 Glasgow High School graduate. She worked at WT Grants, owned and operated Happy Valley Market and Kenneth Goode Grocery along with many other retail businesses during the 1950’s and 1960’s. She then dedicated several years as apparel manager at K-Mart where she retired. Once she retired she became the co-owner and helped operate “The Treasure Chest” until she was 90 years old.

She is survived by a son, Gary Goode (Pamela) of Hendersonville, TN; two daughters and caregivers, Denise Curtis and Gina Byrd, both of Glasgow; daughter- in- law, Brenda Goode; two brothers, Paul Cloyd (Betty) and Earl Cloyd (Sandy), both of Indiana; half-brother, Kelly Cyphers, of Illinois; seven grandchildren, Chris Goode (Tammy) of TN, Brad Goode of TN, Cory Goode (Brittany) of Columbia, KY, Ashley Goode, Geneva Oakes, Ross Brown, and Taylor Byrd all of Glasgow; eleven great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; friend and caregiver, Shirley Emmitt.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Goode; brothers, Ray Cloyd, Ralph Cloyd, Roy Cloyd; sister, Mary Coe; sister- in- laws, Madie Striegler, Helen Cloyd, Marion Cloyd, Shirley Cloyd; brother-in-law, Terry Coe

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff of station 4 at NHC Healthcare and 3rd Central at TJ Samson Community Hospital for compassionate care they provided Geneva with throughout the duration of her illness.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 22nd, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial at Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.
