George Hessel Baker, 83 of Summer Shade died Monday, July 22, 2013 at New Haven at Home, Franklin, KY. Born in Ocheydan, Iowa, he was the son of the late Hessel George and Emma Hielkema Baker. Mr. Baker was a farmer, a veteran of the Korean War and member of the Lick Branch Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Survivors include 2 daughters Gloria Kell and husband Leslie of Franklin, KY, Sherry Free Johnson and husband Charles of Glasgow; 1 son Hessel Baker and wife Linda of Canmer, KY; 8 grandchildren Debra Outler, Dena Hagan, Stacy Johnson, Jennifer Dobson, Jessica Lindsey, Melissa Conley, Lindsey Kell and Derek Kell; 11great Grandchildren; 2 sisters Helen Vanderveen and Thelma Van Gelder both of Iowa. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two wives Angelina Dekkenga Baker and Wilma Jean Sims Baker, and 1 grandchild Angela Michelle Baker. Funeral services will be held 2PM Friday, July 26, 2013 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Burial with military honors provided by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Randolph, KY. Visitation will be after 3PM Thursday at the funeral home.
