George Taylor Maggard 86 of Glasgow died Sunday, June 19, 2011 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Barren County the son of the late Charlie Roy Maggard and Nannie Lois Taylor Maggard. Mr. Maggard was a home improvement contractor and owned and operated Maggard Insulation for many years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and was very active in the organization of his military service reunions since the war. As a member of the Refuge Church of Christ, he had served as an Elder for many years. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Ramona Jean Jones Maggard; 1 son Mike Maggard of Glasgow; 2 daughters Diana Maggard and Gayle and Marshall Kerney all of Glasgow; 6 grandchildren Michael Maggard, Marc Maggard, Megan Elkins, Erica Maggard, Brandon Kerney and Grant Dawn Furlong; 8 great-grandchildren Hunter Marsh, Hayden Elkins, Addison Elkins, Katelyn Maggard, Trevor Kerney, Nick Kerney, Alexis Furlong and Grayson Furlong; 2 sisters-in-law Margaret and Margie Maggard; 2 brothers-in-law Doug (Joyce) Jones and Ray (Dean) Jones and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Erroll and Bill Maggard and 2 sisters Frances Shaw and Teny Haley. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the Refuge Church of Christ with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00pm Wednesday at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home and continue Thursday at the Refuge Church of Christ from 10:00am until time for the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
