Gerald 'Jerry' Franklin Cooper, 73, of Austin, KY died Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital. He was born in Flint, MI the son of the late Millage Franklin Cooper & Helen Glessner Cooper. Mr. Cooper had several jobs in his lifetime, a self-employed handyman, a dispatcher with a volunteer fire department in Bangor, MI, and employed by General Mills Company as a forklift operator. The last 10 years he was employed by the Barren River State Park. He was a member of the Missouri Army National Guard and was active duty for 1 year. He was of the baptist faith. Survivors include 6 children; Carla Cooper-Burke (John) of IL, Julianna Cooper Brant (Scott) of MI, Jeanice Cooper Morgan of MI, John Wilson (Tina) of TN, Jim Wilson (Lisa) of MI, and Jody Troxler of NC; 21 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; 2 brothers James Allen Cooper (Betty) of AZ. and Virgil David Cooper (Sherry) of KY; several nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service will be 1:00pm Friday January 16, 2015 at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:00pm until time for services on Friday at the funeral home.
