Grace Eleanor Moon Pelham, age 86, died Monday November 15, 2004 at Runell's Family Care in Glasgow, Kentucky after a lengthy illness. She was born Sept. 16, 1918 in Catskill, NY where she was a lifelong resident until moving to Kentucky in 1999. She was the daughter of the late Herbert Moon and Lillian Gibbs Moon. Grace was a graduate of Catskill High School. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from the State University at Albany and her Master's Degree from SUNY at New Paltz. She was employed as a High School Englinsh and History teacher at Athens High School in the 1940's. After working as a Social Worker for the Greene County Dept. of Social Services, she later returned to teaching at the Leeds School House and then at Irving Elementary School from which she retired. She was a life long member of the Catskills United Methodist Church; a member of Ciitzen's House Company Ladies Auxillary, of which she was a past President; a member of the An-ti-ora Chapter DAR; a member of the Friends of Asbury Cemetery Association and a member of the New York State Teacher's Association. Grace is survived by 3 sons, Philip W. Pelham III and wife Nancy of Catskill; David H. Pelham and wife Lorena of Manila in the Philippines; Dr. Robert F. Pelham and wife Darlene of Glasgow, KY, and a stepdaughter Judith (McHugh) Kicq of Virginia. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Philip R. Pelham of Livingston, NY; Dawn Pelham Clemens of Warwick, NY; Karalee Pelham of Glasgow, IY; Kasey Jo Pelham of Bowling Green, KY; Catherine Pelham and Christopher Pelham of Virginia. She was predeceased by her husband Philip W. Pelham, Jr.; her son Richard Pelham; her second husband Frank McHugh and her half brother George Moon. Friends may call at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday Nov. 16th from 4:00pm until 9:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Traver-McCurry Funeral Home in Catskill, NY on Friday November 19th at 2:00pm with internment to follow in the Town of Catskill Cemetery, Jefferson Heights, NY. Visitation at the Traver-McCurry Funeral Home will be on Thursday from 4pm until 8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church, 200 Green Acres, Glasgow, KY 42141.
